Moving Forward

What to do with your new website!

1. Driving Traffic 🚗

When your website goes live, the most important thing to do initially is drive traffic to it. This will help google index it faster and start improving your SEO rankings immediately. Here are some ways to consider getting the word out:

  • Advertisements This one is obvious but can much trickier than most people think. It's not as easy as just throwing money at it and watching it grow. You have to make sure they are the RIGHT eyeballs that show up your website. In the beginning it can be helpful to invest $100 in Google Ads just so Google knows that your website exists.
  • Social Media – use your Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok to get the word out. You’d be surprised how far one post can go when it’s shared and liked.
  • Email Newsletter – if you have a newsletter or email list, be sure to let them know that the new site has launched and even more importantly, how it can help their business or add value to them. Mailchimp is what I use and highly recommend.
  • Word of Mouth – word of mouth is still the most powerful referral. If you’re as excited as we are when your site launches, tell those around you! Get their opinion and see what they think about your new online presence. That’s valuable feedback that may come in handy when considering changes and additions to the site moving forward.
  • Backlinks – A backlink is a link to your website from another website. Backlinks from complementary businesses or industry influencers will not only get your business in front of a larger audience, but will also drive qualified traffic to your website.

In addition, Google picks up on backlinks and will increase its trust in your business if it sees other trusted sites pointing to yours. More trust from Google leads to higher rankings, which leads to more traffic.
  • Guest Posting – Having an industry influencer publish a blog post on your site or turning an interview with them into a blog post can help to drive traffic both through organic search but also via that influencer promoting the content to their audience.

Alternatively, you could ask the influencer to mention your business in their own post. This method is still free, but you still need the collaboration with the influencer to be an exchange with mutual benefit.

2. Creating Content

Content is king. As long as you create insatiable content on your site or blog, you'll keep the visitors coming back for more and more. Also, the better your content is, the more engaged your visitors will be. They will share your content for you, helping to promote your site on autopilot.

  • Written (Blog) – blogging sounds a bit overrated and useless to a lot of people and I can understand that, but the facts are the facts – websites with blogs generally drive 30-40% more traffic to their sites than their competitors.

Google will often pick up blog posts before picking up major website pages. If you can contribute good, lasting content that is well thought out and valuable to your customers, you will drive more traffic. Don’t be afraid to use social media and use your network to get the word out. It’s worth having someone maintain a solid website blog to drive your traffic and grow your online presence.

  • Video (Vlog) – YouTube is the second biggest search engine in the world. Creating video follows the same concepts of Blog content. It has a longer shelf-life and Google will pick up on it since you know... they own YouTube.
  • Audio (Podcasting) – This is personally my favorite medium which is why I have a podcast show myself. This is one of the only platforms that people will happily spend LARGE amounts of time listening to your content. Most podcast shows are about an hour in length which is insane when you think about it!

My best advice if you choose to do a podcast show.

  1. Pick a topic you ENJOY talking about. You have to be able to commit for the long haul.

  2. Find a topic where you are the ONLY person doing it. Don't try to compete with the tycoons already out there.

Alternatively, you could ask the influencer to mention your business in their own post. This method is still free, but you still need the collaboration with the influencer to be an exchange with mutual benefit.

3. Reviews ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Online reviews are more important than ever. Particularly for businesses being googled and found online, a user will look at reviews almost immediately. There are many different ways and platforms on ways to get reviews, but here are some we recommend:

  • Google Business Profile – this is highly recommended as google reviews are generally what will pop up when somebody finds your site with an internet search. You can either have your customers google your business, then leave a review OR you can use this site to generate a direct link: https://supple.com.au/tools/google-review-link-generator. It’s super handy 😉
  • Third-Party Reviews – Facebook, Yelp and LinkedIn reviews are also great and are now a more reputable spot for customer reviews. Don’t be afraid to ask for your customers to leave a reviews on a third-party page and have them share it. Or get their permission for you to share it.
  • Testimonials for Website – after your website is live, we recommend gathering a few testimonials to post on the website. Even if you don’t currently have any on the site, if you can gather 5-10 good, personalized reviews (usually gathered via email or off of Google or Facebook) we can eventually set up a testimonials page. Users will often look for reviews ON the site as well as on other outlets before making a purchase, calling or emailing

I recommend putting the best one’s on the site 🙂

4. Google Accounts 🔍

What gets measured gets managed. There are a couple accounts I would recommend setting up to keep track of how much traffic you are driving to your website. You will also be able to put out advertisements for your website if you find it necessary.

  • Google Analytics - This is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic.
  • Third-Party Reviews – Facebook, Yelp and LinkedIn reviews are also great and are now a more reputable spot for customer reviews. Don’t be afraid to ask for your customers to leave a reviews on a third-party page and have them share it. Or get their permission for you to share it.
  • Google Search Console - Search Console tools and reports help you measure your site's Search traffic and performance, fix issues, and make your site shine in Google Search results.

5. Testimonial 🙏
