1. Who
STOP playing nice.
It’s the reason your business isn’t growing.
I recently had dinner with the founder of Ziki.
It’s a seed oil free restaurant chain.
Who do they cater to?
People who hate seed oils.
Everyone else can pound sand.
It might sound brash.
But that’s what a strong community does.
They get clear on WHO they serve by defining two things.
What do they stand FOR?
What do they stand AGAINST?
And then they ignore the rest.
2. What
Don’t talk about what you do.
Talk about what problem you solve.
As a healthcare professional.
I used to think certifications and degrees matter.
They don’t… nobody cares.
Here’s the only thing people want to know.
“How can you help me?”
It might sound selfish, but it’s true.
We are all perpetually fascinated with our own problems.
This is equally true for your community.
“What problem are you helping them solve?”
The more clearly you can define this.
The easier it is to provide a solution.
The more you provide that solution.
The stronger your community becomes.
What problem do you help people solve?
3. Why
Your WHAT gets them in the door.
Your WHY keeps them around.
My first attempt at building a community happened when I lived in Minnesota.
It was called “Healthpreneurs Business Networking.”
People showed up… but they didn’t stick around.
Why?
Because I didn’t answer a fundamental question.
“Why are we gathering here today?”
I thought “networking” would be enough.
It’s not.
People don’t need another networking event.
They need community.
And community… is built by answering that question above. 👆
It doesn’t have to be grandiose.
It doesn’t have to change the world.
It just has to be CLEAR.
Here’s the WHY to my community now.
“Empowering health entrepreneurs to build a business that fits their lifestyle.”
