Authenticity is the key.

👇
1. Personal
If you didn’t do it.
Don’t talk about it.
My original content was a lot of quotes.
Things other people did or said.
Nobody cared.
It wasn’t personal.
I was just regurgitating ideas that already existed.
Nothing is interesting about that.
It’s a copycat.
Now, I try to only speak from experience.
- Things I’m doing.
- Things I’ve learned.
- Things I’ve experienced.
- Things I’m thinking about.
Rule #1 of authentic content.
Keep it personal.
2. Relatable
Don’t be a Teflon pan.
Be a cast iron skillet.
My original content was a highlight reel.
Only the best moments.
It was completely unrelatable.
Nobody lives a perfect life.
Then, I started talking more about my challenges
- Knee pain from running.
- Going through a divorce.
- The challenges of not having a home.
Not as a plea for help.
But to show that I’m human.
You become a Teflon pan when you only talk about the good stuff.
You’re hard to stick to.
But you become a cast iron skillet when you talk about the real stuff.
No amount of scrubbing is ever getting you off.
3. Raw
Our intuition is normally right.
But in this case, it’s wrong.
My intuition tells me that if I spend more time on content.
It will be better.
But the opposite has happened so many times that it can’t be a fluke.
Raw, often outperforms edited.
Why?
Because I think we’re tired of being duped.
- Fake news
- Ghostwriters
- AI-generated content
People want their information straight from the source.
Keep it real.
Keep it raw.
Take home point…
- Create from personal experience.
- People connect with the real you.
- Unedited often beats edited content.
