It’s becoming harder than ever to buy attention.
You have to earn it.
Here’s how.
LFG
👇
1. Expertiseness
Good news.
You suck at almost everything.
We all do.
Things I suck at:
- Responding to emails.
- Understanding people’s emotions.
- Cleaning the kitchen counter.
- Hitting the toilet when I pee.
Here’s why it’s good news.
I don’t have to waste my time trying to be good at them.
I accept that I suck at them.
So that I can focus on the few things I’m exceptional at.
- Listening
- Learning
- Teaching
- Marketing
Hence, the reason I podcast, write, and consult on marketing.
So, if you want to win with content.
Start here.
- What are your skills?
- What are you knowledgeable about?
- What are you interested in?
The convergence of those areas is your sweet spot.
It’s your expertiseness.
Focus on that and forget the rest.
2. Uniqueness
It’s not enough to be an expert.
You have to lean into your uniqueness.
I’ve interviewed over 100+ health & fitness professionals.
There’s nothing unique about that.
My uniqueness comes from breaking down complex business strategies and making them easily digestible for health & fitness professionals.
I’m basically an information-synthesizing machine.
You’re welcome.
So, what’s your uniqueness?
- Do you only eat meat?
- Are you a hybrid athlete?
- Really into reverse running?
- Do you make killer home gym workouts?
Here’s a good way to look at it.
If your content never made it to the internet.
Would anyone care?
3. Oneness
You can do anything.
Just not all at once.
Content creation is an exceedingly good example of this.
- I don’t create TikTok’s
- I don’t write on Twitter.
- I don’t engage on Facebook.
It’s hard enough to be good at Instagram.
So, for now, that’s my thing.
We will always want more.
We (falsely) believe that more is better.
But if you truly want to stand out.
It’s essential to focus your marketing efforts.
Joe Rogan started with just audio podcasting.
It seems to have worked out well for him.
What’s your oneness?
Take home point…
- Find your sweet spot.
- Be unique.
- Start with one.
✌️
What is a burning marketing question you have that I can help answer?
