What do you do when your referrals dry up?
You go back to the basics.

1. Define
The average person sees around 10,000 ads per day.
99.9% of which you completely ignore.
I was scrolling Instagram like most humans do, and an ad straight punched me in the face (see photo below 👇).
Here’s why.
They know EXACTLY who they are talking to.
I am very familiar with BPN.
Hell, I ran the BPN (half) marathon.
But I’ve never been a huge fan of their product.
For the exact reasons listed below.
So here’s the lesson.
Clearly define the problems your ideal customer faces.
It’s easier to cut through the noise.
2. Content
There are only four ways to generate leads.
But there is one standout.
Here are the four ways:
- Cold outreach
- Warm outreach
- Paid ads
- Free content
They all work.
But only one has long-term thinking in mind.
Free content.
I’ll be the first to admit that it is also the hardest.
I create a lot of content.
- Blogging
- Podcasting
- Newsletters
- Social media
But what is hard is also valuable.
So here’s the lesson.
If you need leads today.
Consider outreach and ads.
But if you can wait.
Consider free content.
3. Convert
Attention is the game.
But how do you turn attention into a lead?
You offer them something valuable.
Everything I create on social media is an invitation into my world.
More often than not, my website.
From there, you can find useful information for my ideal customers.
- Blogs
- Events
- Podcasts
- Guides
So here’s the lesson.
Once you have their attention.
Give them something useful and relevant.
It shows that you know how to solve their problems.
