“Marketing Tips for Health & Fitness Brands”
Estimated read time: 1 minute & 58 seconds.
I just competed in my second Hyrox race.
It was hard.
So hard that I (almost) pooped my pants.
How did they convince me to do something hard?
They used 3 there marketing tactics.
LFG
👇
Nobody moves from a neutral state of mind.
Emotion creates motion.
I didn’t sign up for Hyrox for the ACTUAL race.
I could go replicate the race at my local gym.
But doing a Hyrox at my local gym doesn’t excite me.
It would be… just another workout.
I signed up for Hyrox for the FEELING of accomplishment it would give me.
We are emotional creatures.
And feelings motivate people to make decisions.
You have a plethora to choose from.
The list continues… but just so you know.
Happiness is the strongest of emotions.
Make people feel GOOD.
And you’ll have a fan for life.
Want people to show up to your event?
Let them bring a friend.
The night before my Hyrox race I got 4 hours of sleep because I spent (almost) the entire night on the toilet.
Before we started the race, I had to run to the toilet so I didn’t have a bowel movement in my shorts.
During the entire competition, all I could think about was, “Man, I really hope I don’t crap myself in front of all of these people.”
Long story short, I rather got food poisoning or had a massive episode of lactose intolerance.
Despite my misery, I competed anyway.
Why?.. Accountability.
I was competing in Hyrox with a partner.
You see, Hyrox has singles and doubles events.
Doubles is by far their most effective marketing strategy.
There is NO WAY I would have shown up that day if I had to do it alone.
Nobody wants to do “hard” things alone.
But with a partner… it’s not about me anymore.
Make people accountable… and they are more likely to show up.
Don’t build an audience.
Build a community.
This was my second Hyrox competition.
In all fairness, competing in a Hyrox is dumb.
It’s… just a workout.
I have a gym membership.
Why do I need to do a Hyrox?
Well… because I’m human… and humans NEED community.
We are the most social creatures on the planet.
Most everything we do is to improve our social status so that we don’t get ostracized from our community.
What’s my point?
Everyone wants to be a part of something.
Even if that something doesn’t make sense.
Hyrox isn’t a workout competition.
It’s a community.
Take home point…
- Emotions create motion.
- Accountability gets people to show up.
- Build a community.
