If you’re trying to be liked by everyone
You’ll never truly be loved by someone.
I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve been on a call with a client and asked them, “Who is your ideal client?” and they say to me… “Everyone.”
No… no, it’s fucking not.
You’re not Amazon.
There is no way in hell you can serve everyone.
So then, why are you marketing to everyone?
The best tool for marketing is a sniper rifle.
Not a shotgun.
Here are a few questions to consider when picking your someone.
Now talk to THEM.
And forget the rest.
Stop trying to grow everywhere.
Pick a primary.
My primary platform is LinkedIn.
Everything I create is with LinkedIn FIRST in mind.
The idea of having a primary platform might seem obvious.
But MOST people mess this up.
They try to create content on every platform and then wonder why they don’t see any meaningful growth.
They spread themselves too thin.
Diluted focus = diluted results.
There’s nothing wrong with re-purposing content.
But don’t get upset when you don’t grow on your non-primary platforms.
You can post on multiple platforms.
But you can only grow on one at a time.
Pick your primary.
Ideally, where your ideal customers are.
The hardest part about marketing?
Knowing what you want.
“I want more followers!”
“I want more subscribers!”
“I want more downloads!”
Do you?
Or do you want more business?
Create trendy content.
And you’ll get more followers.
Create helpful content.
And you’ll get more business.
Every good marketing plan starts with knowing what you want.
And then working backward from there.
Clarity in goals = clarity in action.
